FAR INFRARED RADIANT (FIR) HEATING

What is a Far Infrared Radiant (FIR) Heating System?

Infrared should not be confused with ultraviolet or any other form of dangerous radiation. It is actually used in many different commercial and consumer applications such as incubators in nursery wards, far infrared saunas, and even far infrared clothing. The human body itself radiates heat in the form of far infrared waves and the sun warms the earth by infrared rays. Think of the sun shining on your face and the warm feeling you get on your skin, or perhaps the radiant glow of a bonfire or a fireplace, without the fumes! This feeling of radiant heat is the same type produced by infrared technology such as a FIR Heating System. With infrared heating panels, the heat is absorbed by the skin and clothing, much like standing in the sunshine as opposed to standing in the shade. The beauty of all this is that our skin is naturally designed for absorbing infrared heat, which in turn warms us up giving a good boost to our immune system and a huge menu of benefits listed below. The heat creates a stimulating detoxing sweat, flushing out toxins from your blood and metabolic waste from your muscles. Blood flow is increased and fresh oxygen is delivered to the muscles, joints, organs, and glands. This type of heat takes your yoga practice to a whole new level of self-care.

Below are just a few of the amazing benefits and numerous reasons why you may benefit from a FIR Heating System. We also have listed some common questions you may have.

What exactly is Far Infrared Radiant Heat?

FIR Heat is a form of naturally occurring energy that heats objects by a process called direct light conversion. Instead of heating the air in the room, FIR heats the body directly. Infrared rays are the healthiest wavelength of energy that penetrates deeply into the body (1.5 to 3 inches) then causing harmful substances accumulated in your body to be broken down and eliminated. When far infrared comes in contact with water molecules (comprising over 70% of our body) these molecules begin to vibrate. This molecular vibration stimulates the release of encapsulated gases and other toxic materials. The continuous heat activates the sweat glands. The sweat glands offer one of the mechanisms the body has to eliminate toxins; and since the skin is the largest organ in the human body, it offers the best means for elimination. Traditional heating systems heat the air to a very high level in order to heat the body and as a result you can have difficulty breathing in this extremely warm air. Another added benefit is that FIR heat creates a far more sterile environment, less likely to spread and cultivate bacteria. FIR heating guarantees clear air with zero emissions and no odor.

Benefits

According to numerous scientific studies, FIR has become a widely used source for treating a magnitude of medical conditions. Recent research points to benefits in the following areas: heart health, cancer reduction and healing, arthritis and fibromyalgia pain reduction, better sleep, cellular reproduction and clearing of skin conditions.

Heart Health

Infrared Heat is becoming one of the most efficient ways to help heart patients improve their heart function after a serious heart attack.  This soothing heating and resulting heart rate increase allow these patients to begin healing quicker. Using infrared heat improves circulation, reduces fluid around the heart, and helps better overall heart function.

Reduces Cancer Risk

Cancer cells cannot live in hot environments.  Research shows a significant reduction of pre-cancerous cells in patients treated with Far Infrared Heat Therapy.  The effective and consistent practice of yoga (and other health modalities) under Far Infrared Heat can possibly help students in fighting and preventing cancer.

Helps Heal Post-Cancer

Recent studies show that therapy from FIR enhances recovery in cancer patients. Infrared heat kills cancer cells, helps the body remove toxins from cancer therapies, and improves well-being and recovery of cancer patients (Please consult your physician prior to use).

Improves Arthritis

We can all agree that aches and pains can come with aging.  Heating the body with infrared heat will help remove inflammation around the joints and soften the ache of arthritis.  Students will find stronger practices and relief from arthritis pain not only during class but also long after class is over.

Reduces Pain

Infrared Heat Therapy is leading the way in pain reduction.  Heating the overall body under the comforting heat of infrared panels allows you to experience a greater reduction in pain while enhancing your practice.

Fights Diabetes

Type II Diabetes is quickly becoming an epidemic in our overweight western culture.  Many people are turning to yoga and meditation as ways to help fight diabetes. Research shows benefits to help the fight of diabetes by enhancing heart health, improving circulation, and reducing pain allowing greater comfort of movement and exercise.  In addition, Far Infrared heat is proven to improve skin tone and reduce inflammation around injection sites for Type I Diabetics.

Promotes Cellular Growth

Thousands of cells break down and are rebuilt on a daily basis in the human body.  Cellular growth is essential to good health. Current research shows increased cellular functioning with the use of infrared heat.  Not only does yoga and other exercise help increase cellular function, but you can actually improve your cellular health with infrared heat.

Increases and Improves Circulation

Increased heart rate induced by heating tissues increases blood flow throughout the body.  A healthy circulatory system results in a healthier body by moving oxygen and nutrients to all parts of the body and removing what no longer serves the body.  Practicing yoga under infrared heat with proper breathing and alignment all help improve your health.

Experience Better Sleep

The warmth of FIR heat eases tense aching muscles and the pain of arthritis, bursitis, injury, or chronic illnesses such as Fibromyalgia.  This enhanced relaxation and well being lasts well past classes under infrared heat and helps you have deeper, more restful sleep.

Enhances Muscular Health

You’ve heard the phrase, “a healthy muscle is a happy muscle.”  We can all agree that practicing yoga and other exercise modalities help improve muscular health; we can all also agree that torn muscles or stretches ligaments and tendons are an issue in exercise or every day living.  By heating the muscles gently and increasing circulation with infrared heat, it can help you find enhanced muscular health, experience fewer muscle strains, and find more enjoyment in your practice.

Clears Skin Issues

Increased heating and perspiration through better circulation pulls wastes from the body through the skin.  Heat enlarges the skin pores allowing for easy removal of dirt and sweat helping skin cells heal faster and function better.   Washing away the resultant perspiration leaves the skin clean and rejuvenated. FIR Heat can: reduce & clear acne, speed healing of cuts and bruises, help heal rashes and other skin irritations.

Augments Weight Loss

Removing harmful substances through perspiration and increasing the heart rate, which results in greater circulation, helps the body aim to reach its greatest potential.  You can improve weight loss efforts by exploring healthy living, exercise, and removal of waste products. Research shows that the resultant perspiration from an infrared sauna use contains 90% toxins – not just water loss.  Simply put, sweat is good for the body and you will find healthier sweating under infrared heat then traditional heating sources.

Stress Reduction

Taking a time out for yourself and practicing self-care will result in better stress reduction.  Now add practicing under the soothing warmth of infrared heat significantly aids in stress reduction.  This time allows the body to begin to function properly and mind to relax from the stress and anxieties of daily life.  It provides a quiet, reflective time for you as well as a relaxing social environment.

Is a FIR Heating System safe?

In the last 25 years, extensive research has been carried out worldwide regarding numerous medical and health benefits of FIR Heating Systems. The good news is that despite being a form of electromagnetic radiation, infrared heating is 100% safe. The word radiation often scares people and it is true that some types of electromagnetic radiation can be dangerous, such as ultraviolet and x-rays, however, remember that visible light (that we see with our eyes) is also a type of electromagnetic radiation – and this, much like infrared is 100% safe!
